{7 QT 14} - Good Times

So... last week was REALLY busy for me. I hosted a birthday party for my beautiful little girl, who insisted on eating her cake daintily instead of squishing it like she did last year.
See how dainty?

This lasted until Aunt M. tried to introduce Pitter Patter to a tradition she shares with her daughter, putting a little bit of dessert on their noses.

There we go. Cake still not squished, but face paint is acceptably messy and cute.

I forgot how tasty Little Caesar's Pizza and Crazy Bread are. We had a playdate at the splash pad in the park on Tuesday with all of Pitter Patter's little friends, where we bought pizza, and it was better than I remembered.

Pitter Patter thought so, too. This is the first time I've ever seen her eat pizza like all the other little kids eat pizza.

I don't think this is the Hashimoto's talking, either. I mean. Do you really think I'm going to pass on cake at a birthday party? No? I didn't expect it of myself either, and I'd been being pretty good for the last couple of weeks.

I am also very much indebted to my mom again, this week, for looking after a certain pretty little girl so I could get the house ready for her birthday party.

And I owe her again for yesterday for teaching me how to change a shower head. (I feel all awesome, because with instructions, I was able to do almost all of it by myself.)

I was also very proud of myself for putting together a very nice backdrop for the party. I'll do a big post probably next week on how to do an awesome hot air balloon themed party for a toddler. (Pretty Pinworthy, if I do say so myself!)

Here's a picture of a small part of it. I'll do a bigger post on it next week.

If you're wondering about the pregnancy, we're all doing well - Daniel, Pitter Patter, the baby, and me. Just... let's not talk about how my insurance has changed since Pitter Patter was born. She cost me a grand total of like $300 in medical bills. Boss insurance, right?

Not anymore. This time, if the wrong company handles my lab work (which, if you didn't already know, they do a boatload of during pregnancy), it costs me an arm and a leg - I haven't even left the 1st trimester yet, and I've already spent $300.

The insomnia was better than usual last week - I think because I was too exhausted to wake up in the middle of the night.

I started out the pregnancy pretty badly overweight, so I set myself a goal for the 1st trimester. Gain 3lbs or less. I'm 2 1/2 weeks from the end of that trimester, and I'm still below that line, but I've fluctuated above it quite a bit. I think I'll be able to make it.

I have another doctor's appointment later today, so I hope to have more news.

This weekend, check out The Right Heart Podcast.

I've been following Erin's blog for a little while now, and I'm really excited to listen to her new project, which is supposed to be up and ready this weekend. Given everything I've heard and read so far, I can't wait.

Please take a minute to peruse my other posts this week:

Teaching Generosity - Just as it is incumbent upon parents to teach their children the faith, it is also incumbent upon us to teach them to be generous. Here are a few ideas on how to go about doing this. (A Sunday Reading Reflection)

The Primordial Sacrament: An Encounter with God- What is a sacrament? Why do we have them? Why are they good for us?

Opposition From Within - On some of the hardest cultural issues of our time, the Catholic Church has had problems with people who self-identify as Catholics publicly dissenting from Church teaching. How should we meet such opposition from among our own? (A Sunday Reading Reflection)

I hope you enjoy them!

    1. Thanks! I was really excited about the theme, and I had a whole world of fun putting it together! :-)

When I was a girl, we actually had a hot air balloon take off from my parents' front yard. I was amazed at how big those things are from up close. :-)
